In this group project we had to suggest different ideas to improve Edinburgh Zoo, which is a very old site and has recently
had a lot of issues regarding design and planning.

Our group focused on the Grassland areas. Since we didn’t really want to be very intrusive and have to change a lot, we decided on working on improving the experience of the visitor.

In our design proposal, the Grassland zone would become a journey of experiences through all different senses. This would be carried out by the addition of a series of containers, each one holding a unique experience directed towards the senses. The main hub would consist in a Prairie style meadow, found at the end of ones Journey. All these ecological experiences would create memories, giving the visitor a more intimate connection to nature and animals, and leading us to an ecological sensibility that would help us understand that everything created by the earth, big cats and bees, are all equally important.
